Forewarning: Your kids will come home covered in marker - some more than others - but it is from washable crayola markers. They may need to scrub in the tub for a while tonight.
It's all in the name of fun in the game of Bonkers. You'll notice I made the video "what I like best of camp so far" yesterday because if I would have waited until today to do it, all I would have heard was "Bonkers"!
For those of you new to 4-H camp, I will do my best to explain...
1st - you want to run and run as fast as you can hoping to escape a "bonker". These crazy camp counselors are running around with noodles trying to bonk you.
If you get bonked, they mark you with their marker.
And you are frozen...
To get unfrozen, you must yell for a "medic" to come and save you. These nice camp counselors wear the red cross symbol on their shirt and they tend to move a little slow in getting to you.
BUT, before they unfreeze you, they will ask you to perform some silly trick like singing a silly song as this camper is doing. The medic will then unmark the mark of the bonker and you are free to run again.
How do you win? You must find the rest of the counselors who are hiding on the grounds and perform a task. Such as stringing noodles onto a straw
Or unwrapping Hershey Kisses with winter gloves on
Or trying to juggle 3 balls.
But look hard because some counselors are hard to find such as Jayson who was hiding up in a tree. After you've completed their task you get their signature. First 1 to get all signatures wins. BUT, there is a trick - only 3 people can be in line for the task. If you are 4th in line and a bonker comes along, they can bonk you and you will be out!
You will notice some kids might come home with lots of marks while others come home with only 1 or 2. We have found that some kids just like to get bonked and saved. While others prefer claiming their bonk free status!
